With a Deep V Chine Hull and 12’ long design, the SPRINT 120XR is made for those looking for a little extra capacity, for even better tracking and return on effort, increased secondary stability so choppy conditions won't be a problem and, better responsiveness to shifts in body weight and position. The SPRINT 120XR is made with our patented RAM-X™ PREMIUM material, an exceptionally durable high molecular weight polyethylene that contains a top layer of advanced resin, which provides more rigidity while still being conveniently lightweight. Reviews & Questions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great mix of features for an intermediate recreational kayak I was shopping for a more capable kayak than the Argo series, but still comfortable and stable for family Kayak trips while keeping the size and weight down. This Yak seemeed to fit the bill, but being a new model there are no reviews yet, so I took a chance, and am really glad I did. This is a nice kayak for intermediate paddlers who appreciate good tracking, solid secondary stability, and quicker edging than most beginner kayaks offer, but don't want to go to a full touring kayak. The keel extension does it's job in wind and when paddling aggressively, the relatively wide and shallow V retain most of the comfortable primary stability of a beginner kayak, but allow the paddler to lean on edge easier to offer quick handling and secure secondary stability. I was a little concerned that the Yak lacks a skirt flange, but it seems to sit relatively high in the water, and the "windshield" seems to eliminate most splashes from chop and paddling. The cockpit is large with a lot of loose storage in the hull, the rear compartment and hammock are easily accessible, and the deck is flat and wide enough for some decent storage, but it lacks enclosed compartments. The bottle and phone holders are a really nice touch and fits my large S8+ with room to spare, the bungee holds the phone securely and is really nice for navigating with an app. The foot rests are secure and adjustable, kneepads are nice, the seat is firm, but comfortable and supportive with a lot more room for the backrest to recline due to the open area in the back of the cockpit. All in all this is a great option for the money, on flatwater and slow rivers, a definite middle ground kayak placed between simple beginner yaks, and more expensive and less forgiving touring Yaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from really like A couple years ago I purchased a 10 ft sit in recreational kayak which I have used for fly fishing in small mountain lakes. I found it to wide to paddle comfortably and required more effort to paddle than I felt necessary. Went on line looking for a 12ft used kayak along the lines of a touring kayak. Very hard finding anything other than new. Well I bought a new Pelican 120 DT this past Tuesday. It met the basic requirements I wanted. Finish, hull shape, cockpit size, seat all good or better at half the price of the one in my dreams. Brought it home and next day up to mountain lake, very windy conditions. It tends to face into the wind when moving into and across the wind. the stern tends to shift when the wind is from behind. These tendencies are not an issue for me and easily dealt with. Handles power boat wakes and conflicting wake well. I've caught fish from it and have traveled some miles with it. I've taken the keel extension off and it will turn on a dime, if you can get a dime to float . I have not tried other kayaks. I'm pleased with the Pelican. I am 74 years old and I intend to get a lot of use from it.

I see that the storage compartments are closed with a lid and latch. Are these 100% waterproof?

Asked by: Bob
Unfortunately, none of our compartments are waterproof. They are only water tight. We always recommend to use waterproof bags for any valuables you plan on bringing on your trip.

How do I secure my KNP12P109 to its stand so It won't be stolen. There appears to be no way to pass a cable through the hull.

Asked by: Smed
You can pass the lock or cord through the carry handle, or bungee cord. We do not recommend to drill any additional holes in the kayak or to leave them stored outdoors. Prolonged storage in direct sunlight might cause decoloration or warping.

I like the features of the Sprint 140DT kayak but can't find it anywhere in stores to check if I can fit comfortably. I'm 6'3", 185-190 lbs. Will this kayak work for my size?

Asked by: Dan
The kayak cockpit measures: 34.5 in x 18 in (88 cm x 46 cm) You might lack some leg space however this boat has excellent padded thigh braces to additional comfort. The maximum weight capacity is 300 lbs

I just bought 2 brand new Maxim 100X kayaks. I can't find any information on them and they didn't come with owners manuals.

Asked by: Tim B
All of our owners manuals are available online, you can use the link below as they are standard for all of our kayaks. https://www.pelicansport.com/us_en/amfile/file/download/file_id/159/product_id/32/ I have attached a spec sheet of your model. Due to the fact that it was manufactured for 1 store specifically we do not advertise it on our website.
