Reviews & Questions

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great yak for the money Very solid construction Lighter than most in its class considering all the extras. Front hatch not a dry box but excellent for extra storage and perfect for hull mount transducer for my fish finder. Handles fairly well stability wise in the Gulf, though if paddling a long way, it's a bit like paddling a tugboat. That's the trade off though for high stability. I would definitely recommend this as a great starter yak for minor salt fishing inshore and excellent for ponds and rivers. It accomplishes the mission of getting you on the water and fishing, as well as giving you a bit of durability and style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty cool Had this for a few months its cool pretty - stable paddling around but im 230lbs 6 ft tall and its pretty sketchy standing up on - i got in my buddy's $200 pelican sit in kayak and mine was way more stable but you sacrifice stability for speed especially when you have a big cooler full of beer bunjee corded on the back (which holds quite a bit) - also kind of cool to raise and lower the seat which is pretty comfortable but not sure why they dont make a higher back seat for all kayaks to relax better - only complaint really is that for $650 it doesnt come with a friggin paddle but the $200 models do??? Cmon man

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Had the fortune to try out this Kayak before I bought one, not disappointed at all. I do bird Photography and upgraded to this one for more stability. love it., yes it is not made for white water as someone posted above and am sure it will take on some water splashing over the front on a windy day, guess what, so does every other kayak, what do you expect and yes it will blow around like every other one, its only 10 ft. anyway, I have no problem taking my big lens camera out with me like I did with my other Kayak just needed a little more room, Just use common sense !! would recommend this to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really enjoy this kayak. This is my first kayak and it felt kinda tipsy my first time out, so next day I put it in my pond and worked at tipping it over and at 210 pounds I ended up falling out before it rolled over. Only thing is that it does not come with a paddle and the one I bought was too short for the width of the kayak. I really like the height of the seat and how comfortable the 2 hours of fishing was. It is affected by the wind but a little anchor fixed that. Was able to get minnow bucket, tackle box and wiener dog all loaded and easy to reach. Liked the pads on the floor and pull up strap, makes standing up easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great yak, needed better tracking, here,s the fix. Tracking was the only thing that was a problem, not real bad ,just wanted better! Order a Skeg , less then 20 dollar , 100 % fixed. Glued the base on , it was a 8 inch skeg ,cut 3 inches off , left the screws out ,drilled the hole out to 1/8 inch n tied a paracord to it. OK HERES WHAT IT DID! Before with wind blowing hard the kayak would go backwards across the lake, with the Skeg on it goes across the lake front first. Hard to believe the difference it made! That was the simplest way for me to describe it, but so much better! PERFECT YAK NOW! The review by Danny is correct!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Kayak This is my first kayak,I did extensive research and then saw this kayak online and was a little apprehensive at first but saw some reviews and videos online decided to buy this one.I have it for about a month and taken it out for or five times, I truly love this kayak. Very stable and comfortable, great stability on the water and on your back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very stable I bought this kayak about a month ago. I’ve taken it out 4 times now. This is a very stable kayak, not as fast as some, due to its design, but I was more into not flipping over. The seat is comfortable and I have been able to fish for long periods of time. I’ve only taken it out on a 350 acre no wake lake-perfect for kayaks. I’m hoping to get it on a river soon. if you buy this kayak you need to get a long paddle due to the kayak being wide. I bought a 98” paddle at academy and it seems to be wide enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value, good features and easy to handle. My two other fishing kayaks are a 11.5’ sit inside and a 16’ sit on top. The 16 footer is getting too heavy to lug around and I am having a harder time dragging my 72 year old body up and out of the sit inside. The Pelican Catch 10 is a great combination of the two. Everything about it is easy and convenient and I will likely put my other two craft up for sale as I don’t see much likelihood of using them in the future. I was surprised how easily the Catch turned and responded. It glides well after stopping paddling, is slightly less less quick on the start up, seems to catch the wind a bit more and I have to get used to the rigid, upright carry handles on the sides as I bumped them a time or two paddling. All minor items considering the ease of loading and unloading and entering and exiting. A great fishing kayak, especially for those who are getting older and still want to be actively involved in paddling and fishing.

This model is not designed for the addition of a motor. You would need some kind of reinforcement. Pelican does not recommend this
