Reviews & Questions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Kayak I recently bought this kayak after much research and debating. This is my first ever kayak. I had never even used one before so i was pretty nervous. I have gone out twice with it now and love it! I thought i would feel wobbly in it and i don't at all. We hit some rocks/shallow part and i didn't feel like i was going to tip over once.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great kayak but could use some inprovements Overall this kayak is great! It’s beautiful, lightweight, and I was able to go much faster than others around me. I took it out this week on a very calm river. When the wind picked up and caused a little bit of chop in the water, it bounced over the small waves and began to feel a little unstable. It did not break waves very well, but that’s not what this kayak is really meant for anyway. When the water was calm, it tracked very straight. My biggest complaint is that they didn’t even try to make the front compartment or the exo-shell watertight, which makes them kind of pointless. They could’ve easily made them with rubber gaskets and they’d be great for waterproof storage, but the front hatch is literally just a loose plastic lid held in place by the bungee cord. And the exo-shell container is just thin plastic that loosely clamshells together with no rubber or anything to keep it straight or watertight. Very disappointing as even my husband’s cheap Walmart kayak has watertight storage compartments. Also, because the plastic is black, so in the sun it gets HOT and will heat up your water bottles and melt your M&Ms :( The seat is comfortable for the first few hours. I have a pretty bony back though, so after about 2-3 hours it was a bit uncomfortable where my spine was rubbing against the back of the seat. The leg padding and thigh guards are nice. I do wish the paddle that came with the kayak was a bit longer. I believe its 226 cm. I’m a 5’4” female and that just felt too short for me. A couple inches longer would’ve make Paddling much easier. I didn’t take on much water while Paddling, maybe a cup total that drained out easily when finished. There was a small amount of water in the hatch and exoshell too from waves splashing. Overall though, it’s a nice kayak for the price, and its design is very beautiful! I’d purchase it again, perhaps if it was on sale so I could buy a longer paddle for about the same price.

We purchased a Mission 100 from Costco last year and really like it, but now can't find the same model. We would like to get another boat, very similar if not just like it. Can I still purchase the Mission 100? if not, what boat would be similar?

Asked by: Mike
Yes we are still carrying this product in costco stores. Pelican is currently still producing these kayaks, but you would need to be in contact with your local dealers to know when product will be back on shelves. We do not have visibility over stores inventory.

I bought this kayak earlier this summer and after a few uses noticed it has styrofoam right behind the seat on both sides. Was this just packing material (it came in a box) which can be removed? Or is it part of the flotation? Thank you.

Asked by: Geri
The styrofoam adds stability and it is not recommended to remove it. If for some reason it was removed, your kayak will not sink it will just sit closer to water level.

I am purchasing the Argo100x Exo kayak.  Can you tell me if it has anyway to thread a lock through the body?  If not what would be the best way to secure it to a wooden kayak rack that it would sit on? Thanks, Carol

Asked by: LakeLureme
We usually suggest that you thread your cable through the same holes the handles are threaded through. This is a very tough and hard to cut part of the kayak.

How do you get the drain plug out to drain water ? Do you unscrew it or pull it out . I’m afraid to pull too hard on it but it doesn’t seem to unscrew too far.
