Reviews & Questions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Catch120 Easily the best yak out there for what you pay. Took it out to a local lake to practice getting back on if it flips, I actively had to try to flip it. Reboarding is fairly simple. The seat makes for a comfortable ride. Although definately not a speed demon this kayak tracks well. Plenty of storage for whatever you may bring on an extended trip on the water, and at just under70 pounds its easy enough for one person to load up and go. Definately recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent investment. 10 of 10 will buy again

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stable but slow Fantastic fishing kayak. Incredible comfort and stability. More stable than a small Jon boat, and 100x more comfortable. I gave it 3 stars for tracking, although it deserves 4, just because there's no speed rating. This boat is sloooow, but that's the trade-off for the incredible stability. I'm over 6ft tall, over 230lbs, and I can EASILY stand and fish, jump up and down, spin around in circles, and land fish while standing. If you're looking for a boat you can stand and fish in all day long in comfort, regardless of being a bigger person, look no further.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Stability Bad Tracking The reason I bought this kayak was because I wanted to stand and fish and be comfortable. It is super stable as I can stand in it easily and I have never been close to tipping over. The seat is amazing like most have said. The major complaint I have about The Catch 120 is the tracking is very poor because of the tunnel hull design. Secondly, the light weight of this kayak is a plus when you are wanting to transport it but it hurts the quality of the kayak when there is a gust of wind on the water. The wind will blow you all over the place in this thing. This is also another result of the tunnel hull design as it doesn't knife into the water. The kayak spins around in circles when you cast. It has a very hard time staying straight. Many times, I will cast and not even be able to finish working my bait before I am turning in a complete circle. Overall, I would give this kayak a 4/5 mainly because the comfort, stability and the high seating position. But if you are wanting to go fishing on a gusty day or keep your kayak pointing in the direction you want it to while fishing, you may get really frustrated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect Amazing kayak for the price. You get a lot for your money. The only thing I wish it had stock was carry handles on the side of the kayak. I know it has 4 carry handles but if you try to carry it by one of the side handles near the seat it will eventually come loose. Simple fix I did to mine was buy handles from Walmart for $9 and install them below the factory handles for better more comfortable carrying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pelican Catch 120 - Great stable kayak Have owned mine for a year now and totally love it! Super stable, plenty of room for all your gear and didn't hurt the budget too hard. Could use a skeg or rudder system to help it track better but worth every penny. Seats in kayaks don't get any better than this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fishing Kayak Not the fastest or the lightest kayak out there but but it doesn't claim to be. The seat is very comfortable and the kayak is surprisingly stable when you are standing and casting. I've really enjoyed this kayak and looking forward to another season of fishing in it!

Is it possible to move the foot rest track closer towards the bow (few inches) on the Catch 120? Need extra lenth for the longer legs.

Asked by: Dan74
The foot pegs are adjustable. If you want to move the entire foot rest track closer towards the bow this is to your discretion however, any modifications done to the boat can void the warranty in that specific area. We do not recommend drilling any additional holes in the kayak especially in the lower hull of the boat.

Is the kayak a rotomolded 1 piece construction or 2 pieces (bottom and top) put together?

Asked by: Gee
This would be a twin sheet thermorforming process also known as TST, take a look at our youtube channel that explains how our kayaks are built! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQWpxNRDxbs

I just bought this kayak and I have only 1 concern. Are the carry handles on the sides sturdy and strong enough to carry the kayak? I carried it by one of the handles and it felt like the handle was already coming loose.

Asked by: Justin96
The handles can carry the kayak without coming off. We do recommend to remove any accessories during the transportation period so that you do not loose any of the parts. Possibly they were not screwed in/riveted properly. You can try tightening them and see if that makes a difference.

What are the two slots under the seats for?

Asked by: Rosie
Some people like to flip the seat back and use the extra space to fish standing up. These slats or depressions provide a bit more traction than a flat smooth surface would.
